Districtwide Subsurface Utility Designate, Locating & Utility Coordination Support

On this 5-year, $1.5 million contract, FR Aleman provided all necessary services to designate and locate existing surface and subsurface utilities to support projects for the District. Services also included utility location and verification during construction, identification of existing/proposed utility facilities, determination of eligibility of compensable interests, resolution of conflicts between utility facilities and proposed construction, documentation of utility company activities, securing legal agreements to clear projects for compatibility with FDOT construction schedules, and provide right-of-way staking for advanced utility relocations.

FR Aleman provided SUE services to locate identified utilities and designate sufficient locations to delineate the existing underground utilities, via GPR and vacuum excavation test holes. Hundreds of test holes were dug to provide the horizontal and vertical location of each utility.

Our hybrid cross-trained field crews used cloud-based smart devices with GIS-based Survey123 to collect real-time data. 3D Test Hole Reports with thorough utility information, such as a description, pipe size, utility owner, condition, horizontal and vertical location, a sketch of the surrounding area, photos, and GPS coordinates were provided to the client.

As needed, FR Aleman provided utility location and verification services during active construction projects, as well as all necessary survey work.

FR Aleman delivered 25 task work orders (1,500+ test holes) within the first 6 months of this contract, on time and within budget, despite a hurricane. This accelerating work accounted for over half of the value of the 3-year contract.
