SR 23 North Toll Rd Argyle Forest, Design-Build

SR 23 is a 7.8-mile new toll facility being constructed in Clay and Duval Counties (Jacksonville Metro Area). FRA provided lighting, signalization, and ITS plans. The lighting design included providing power to all ITS devices which included 8 CCTVs, 18 MVDSs, 5 TTSs, 5 DMSs, 21 Local Hubs, and 1 Master Hub. FRA served as the Engineer of Record/Designer for this ITS design-build project. We provided a fiber optic cable (FOC) communication distribution facility (trunk, drop, and lateral cables), full CCTV coverage of the project area, fiber optic communication to CCTVs, DMSs and TTSs, as well as electrical power service to all the proposed field equipment. FRA also provided lighting and signalization plans for this project. A total of 538 streetlights and aluminum poles were called for in this project. 400 watts High Pressure Sodium Vapor Mongoose type luminaries were proposed along the Main Trunk while 250 watts were proposed on access ramps. Wall mounted luminaries were also specified under five bridges. Voltage Drop Calculations were performed to maintain Voltage Drops below recommended values by FDOT. A computer program was used to determine required luminaire spacing and mounting height to achieve lighting requirements. Service Points were coordinated with corresponding electric utility to minimize conductor sizes and conductor runs to make job more economical. FRA also revised all shop drawings related to the lighting materials used on the project.
