Central & North District Wastewater Treatment Plants – Outfall Protection – Bathymetric Survey
Under a water and wastewater design contract, FR Aleman provided multi-beam sonar Bathymetric Surveys of the outfall pipelines for both the Central District Wastewater Treatment Plant off Virginia Key and the North District Wastewater Treatment Plant off Haulover Beach. A majority of each of these pipelines were covered with a protective mat and portions were exposed to the elements. FR Aleman was asked to survey the sections of the pipelines that were exposed to be able to access their condition.
FR Aleman collected sounding data along and adjacent to the existing sewer outfall pipes. The outfalls extended up to 3 miles offshore and were upwards of 100 feet deep. While on the water, FR Aleman also flew a Phantom 4 Pro drone to collect aerial imagery.
The final Bathymetric Survey deliverable included 2D and 3D depictions of the outfall pipes, as well as overlaid colorized maps identifying depths and contours.
FR Aleman received a perfect score on this task from Miami-Dade County!
